Day 01 : Arrive PARO
Arrive Paro by Druk Air. Meet Bhutan guide and drive to hotel.
Evening free. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 02 : Day in PARO VALLEY
In the morning drive up the picturesque Paro Valley to the
old ruins of Drukyul Dzong which was built to defend against
the Tibetan invasions in the 17th Century. On a clear day,
Mt. Chomolhari (7300m) can be viewed from this point. In the
afternoon visit the National Museum housed in an old watch-
tower overlooking the valley. Later visit the small and quaint
Paro Bazaar. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day 03 : Trek PARO to JELE DZONG
3350m. - 10 kms. - 4-5 hours. Today is a short trekking day.
The trek begins above the National Museum and the trial climbs
steadily upwards. On a clear day the Paro Valley can be seen
with snow
capped peaks behind the valley. The campsite is near the old
Jele Dzong. If the caretaker is present we may be able to
visit this Dzong. Overnight camp.
Day 04 : Trek JELE DZONG to JANGCHULAKHA
3700m - 12 kms - 5-6 hours. The day starts with a short climb
and then leads through a thick alpine forest and rhododendron
trees. After a descent the trail climbs gradually to camp.
Today you
may see yak herders around the camp site. Overnight camp.
Day 05 : Trek JANGCHULAKHA to JIMILANGTSO
3800 m - 16 kms - 6-7 hours.
Today the trail follows a ridge and on a clear day the views
of the mountains and valleys are beautiful. Camp is close
to Lake Jimilangtso . These lakes are known for their giant
sized trout and if lucky you may enjoy one of these for dinner.
Overnight camp.
Day 06 : Trek JIMILANAGTSO to PHAJODING 3250
m - 21 kms - 7-8 hours.
The trail takes you through dwarf rhodendrrons and then passes
by a lake at Janetso. After the lake the trail begins with
a gradual climb and weather permitting there are clear views
of Gangker Punsum, the highest mountain in Bhutan and other
Himalayan mountains from theDoupchula pass. Then slowly descends
down to Phajoding monastery for the overnight camp. Overnight
camp.
Day 07 : Trek PHAJODING to THIMPU
The last days trek to Thimphu is all down hill through a forested
area of mostly blue pine. Walking down slowly the outskirts
of Thimpu is reached in about 3 hours in time for lunch. Afternoon
at leisure. Overnight hotel in Thimpu.
Day 08: Day in THIMPU
Taday we have full day enjoy the sites and sounds of Thimpu.
Visit Tuthop Lakhang and Memorial Chorten erected in honour
of our late King, Jigme Dorjee Wangchuk. After lunch visit
the Government Handicraft emporium and Tashichho Dzong. This
Dzong is open to visitors only in winter when the Monks are
in Puhakha.
Day 09: Day trip to PUNAKHA.
Today we take a day trip to Punakha located in the Wangdi
valley. This secenic drive through the mountains of Bhutan
take you over the Dochula Pass from where panoramic views
of the snow capped range can he enjoyed. Return to Thimpu
for overnight.
Day 10: THIMPU to PARO. Depart PARO
Early morning drive to Paro to catch flight out of Bhutan
